KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Ivan Quaranta of Italy's Alexia Allumnio outfit sped to his first triumph Tuesday in the Le Tour de Langkawi, winning the seventh stage of the round-Malaysia cycling championship.

Quaranta edged out overall leader Jans Koerts of U.S. team Mercury Viatel, who took the second spot, and Enrico Degano of Italy's Ceramiche Panaria Fiordo in third place.

All three crossed the finish line in 4 hours, 12 minutes, 34 seconds.

Tuesday's competition covered 172 kilometers (107 miles).

Dutchman Koerts keeps the yellow jersey for Wednesday's stage, 41 seconds ahead of Quaranta and 42 seconds in front of Paolo Bettini, who rides for Italy's Mapei Quickstep.
