On a good day, David Millar’s roommate at Cofidis can climb with the best and the Frenchman, now living in central Paris, has showed consistent form this season with wins in the hilly stage of the Critérium International in March and the overall of the Clasica Alcobendas in Spain in May.

However, he is known to be an erratic rider at the best of times -- “You tell him he’s the leader and he’ll blow it straight away,” says his directeur Frans Van Londersele -- so the responsibility of leading the polka-dot competition could prove hard for him to handle.
