Cycling Weekly profiles the contenders for the Tour de France overall winner's yellow jersey.

A rocky start to the season -- a broken collarbone in his first race -- has long since been forgotten, and France’s top GC contender has settled in well at his new team, Crédit Agricole.

Moreau’s third place at the Dauphiné Libéré, where he was one of the last riders to be shaken off by Armstrong when the Texan put the hammer down on the Joux Plane, has given a timely boost to his credibility.

His prologue win and early spell in yellow in last year ’s Tour show he is not afraid of the extra pressure that accompanies racing on home soil for the French.

The only question mark was his abandon on stage 12 last year while lying sixth overall, for reasons that were never fully explained, although his team at that time, Festina, claimed it was because he was on antibiotics.

As solid, if unspectacular, a climber as he is against the clock, Moreau’s other big advantage is his team; Crédit Agricole won the team time trial last year and with powerhouses like Stuart O’Grady and Jens Voigt to keep him out of trouble in the first week, he should be one of the best placed GC riders when the race hits the Pyrenees.
