fdjeux.com Posted: Thursday July 11, 2002 7:14 AMCycling Weekly magazine profiles the teams racing to Paris in this year's Tour de France.
La Française des Jeux have changed their name for the Tour, cutting it back to a shorter fdjeux.com. Hopefully the new moniker will help them win a stage or two and improve on their good Tour of last year. Bradley McGee has continued to mature and improve after his solid ride last year. His win at the Dauphiné Libéré prologue shows he will be a threat to David Millar for the first yellow jersey and he now also has the experience to do well in the time trials. Baden Cooke will be up there in the sprints, as will Jean-Patrick Nazon, while Jacky Durand and Frédéric Guesdon earned their Tour spots with timely stage wins at the Dauphiné. After his ride at Paris-Nice Sandy Casar is also expected to show his talent, even though he is only in his second season as a professional. The experienced Jean-Cyril Robin, Franck Pencolé and Christophe Mengin make up the rest of Marc Madiot’s team.
