With financial problems reportedly sorted out and riders paid the money they are owed, Kelme will be hoping results at the Tour will help them find a new sponsor for next season.

After his close second at last year’s Vuelta, Oscar Sevilla would be a big favorite to win if Lance Armstrong was not so dominant.

His biggest weak ness is his time trialling. He lost the Vuelta in the final time trial and was also out of the top 10 in the final Tour test.

The Kelme rider who can win time trials is Colombian Santiago Botero. He beat Armstrong by 45 seconds in the Dauphiné Libéré time trial and also won the Classic des Alpes by outsprinting Sevilla.

They will be battling it out for the Kelme team leadership as well, while Aitor Gonzalez will be out for stage wins.

The other riders in the team are expected to be Francisco Cabello, Enrique Gutierrez, Javier Pascual Llorente, Antonio Tauler, Mikel Guezuraga and Juan Martinez.
