Since Christophe Sercu took over as team manager a couple of years ago, Lotto have become the best Belgian team in cycling, constantly winning races and moving up the team rankings.

The Tour has never been a major objective but they will be looking to repeat last year ’s stage wins by Rik Verbrugghe and Serge Baguet.

Verbrugghe is also favorite for the prologue and the time trials while Aussie Robbie McEwen will be in the thick of the action in the sprints.

McEwen’s 12 wins so far this season and especially his two Giro stages show that McEwen is having the best season of his career.

Before retiring from the Giro he said he will also be going for the green points jersey and could give fellow Stuart O’Grady and Erik Zabel a run for their money.

Flèche Wallonne winner Mario Aerts will be leader on the hilly stages along with Verbrugghe and Kurt Van De Wouwer.

Other riders for the Tour are: Christophe Brandt, Hans De Clercq, Guennadi Mikhailov and Aart Vierhouten.
