Heras wins stage, takes overall lead Posted: Sunday September 22, 2002 12:54 PMALTO DE L'ANGLIRU, Spain (Reuters) -- Spaniard Roberto Heras, riding for the U.S. Postal team, won stage 15 of the Tour of Spain on Sunday to become the new race leader. Heras clocked a time of five hours one minute and one second for the 176.7-kilometres stage between Gijón and the mountain top finish of Alto de L'Angliru. The Spaniard, winner of the Tour of Spain in 2000, broke away with six kilometers to go and continued alone to the line in torrential rain. Joseba Beloki of Spain was second for ONCE-Eroski, one minute 35 seconds back, and Italian Francesco Casagrande of Fassa Bortolo was in third place one minute 40 seconds adrift. Previous race leader Oscar Sevilla lost two minutes 50 seconds on the climb to compatriot Heras, who now leads the race by 34 seconds over another Spaniard Aitor Gonzalez.
