DP:We were just having a debate about the Celtics' Rajon Rondo. Do you think he's as good as Deron Williams? CB: Hell, no.
DP:I said, are you kidding, Deron Williams -- he may be the best point guard in the NBA. CB: He is the best point guard. We had Chris Paul on last night. I say Deron's the best. Chris, Deron and probably Derrick Rose. But Deron is the guy. Rondo does a fantastic job – this guy controls the game. I'm a little surprised that [Cleveland's] Mo Williams is so bad defensively, to be honest with you, because Rondo is getting anywhere he wants to go. He can't even stay in front of him.
DP:If you're the Lakers, are you concerned about anything? CB: I think the Lakers' toughest series was Oklahoma City. No. 1, their bench is not very good. But I think they're going to beat Utah. I think the Phoenix-San Antonio series is going to be a great series. But I think they're too big for the Suns. And if the Spurs can win that series they're going to be worn down. So my opinion is the Lakers are going to win the West. But I thought against Oklahoma City, that was going to be their toughest series.
DP:Do you know what happened on this day back in 1994? CB: Uh, not right off hand.
DP:You put up 56 points against the Golden State Warriors. CB: Yeah, that was the time that Nike had pissed me off because they made the commercial with Chris Webber dunking on me. I had to watch that commercial for the whole basketball season, and it really pissed me off.
DP:So you took it out on Webber that night? CB: I did. I did.
DP:Did you tell him that you were going to do it to him? CB: Every time I scored I told him.
DP:You're a resident of Arizona, I'm curious if you think baseball should get involved with the immigration law. Do you like that they're standing up for their players to say we're concerned about this law? CB: I think we all need to. As a black person, I'm always against any form of discrimination or racial profiling. I really respect Adrian Gonzalez for coming out and saying something. I didn't realize that in the major leagues there's 30 percent Hispanic players, and in the minor leagues it's like 50. Those are some daunting numbers. I think that we need to do two things. Living in Arizona, I'm disappointed that we came up with the law. But we need to do two things. We need to find a way to get these immigrants their citizenship, that's the first thing, is to find a way to help them get citizenship. I'm very disappointed in John McCain. He used to be somebody I really admired and respected. The second thing, to me, would be very simple. Anybody who hires immigrants, you just fine them. They're not working for other immigrants. Fine and penalize the people they're working for, because most of those immigrants here are busting their hump, doing a great job, and to go after them every couple years because you want to raise hell doing something to get re-elected, that's disrespectful and disgusting.
DP:At the Phillies game a 17-year-old got tasered. What do you think about that if you run on the field? CB: I think you need to do something. With those taser things, you might kill somebody. I always give the police the benefit of the doubt. They're out there busting their hump; I have great admiration for them. But I think they should just beat the hell out of them. I'm not sure they should tase them.
DP:Have you been tasered before? CB: No, but it's funny, I got a bunch of friends who are cops. They said to me -– because I want to get tasered, Dan, just to see what it feels like, not when I broke the law. But they said Charles, it's going to hurt like a ----- for a few seconds. So I said, I want to try that some time.
DP:Aw man, why don't you do it on TNT, and maybe have Ernie [Johnson] taser you? CB: You know what? (laughs). Dan, you're trying to talk me into doing something. You know, I do want to do it though.
DP:Charles, I just suggest, that's all I am, I'm sort of the maitre-de here, I show you to your table, you decide what you want to eat. CB: But you say to yourself, I wonder how bad that would be, because you hear about it all the time. I'll talk to Ernie. Listen, Ernie would be thrilled to do that on me, too.
DP:You know what, I'll fly down and do it. I'd be more than happy to taser you. CB: I'll tell you what we'll do. We'll talk to Ernie. Why don't you do one of your shows from Atlanta, and we'll come on your show the next day, all three of us, and I'll get tasered.
DP:All right, sounds like a deal to me. (laughs) CB: See with my luck, it'll kill me.
DP:Yeah you have to sign a waiver that if I kill you, I can't be an accessory to murder. CB: No, I don't want you to go to jail, but I'm going to feel bad I'm dead. Can you imagine my freeloading family getting all that damn money I got? That would just be my luck, Dan, I'll just drop over and die. I'm not worried about the pain, I just don't want to die.
DP:(laughs) Theyprobably want you to get tasered. CB: When I said that, I could see my son with ears perking up.

Ok, on the Rondo conversation, you guys are missing the things that Rondo does. Top in the NBA PG's in steals and rebounds as well as assists. Rondo does the dirty stuff that no one else wants to do. 1)D. Williams 2)C. Paul 3)D. Rose 4)RONDO 5)The rest of the other tier PGs. | mikebighair
I do have rondo up that high because at what he is asked to do he is the best, so to me its all on what you gonna do selecting a team i dont feel williams is worthy of me picking him first with all the other players in the league so i personally wouldnt go point guard i would use all those top picks to get as many stars at the other positions as i could and then use that lower pick to get rondo because he will still be there becuase as dan pointed out he cant carry a team on his own | allday2807
It's better for the NBA to have LBJ stay in Cleveland. His going to New York isn't going to make them an instant contender. And other than New Yorkers, who cares if the Knicks are relevant? | RudyFlyer
