Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll joined the show to talk about his new team and some leftover business from USC.
Carroll talked about news USC will make an announcement about penalties shortly. Carroll said the NCAA was always asking him what he knew, but wouldn't get into too much detail. He did say the focus was Reggie Bush and O.J. Mayo.
But Carroll said that he doesn't expect the hammer to come down. Dan asked if Carroll expects sanctions. "I'd be surprised if there are," Carroll said.
Carroll also weighed in on Brian Cushing. Dan asked how he reacted when Cushing was suspended. "Just disappointed as could be," Carroll said. "He had such a great first year. I hate to see something tarnish that."
Regarding Seattle, Carroll talked about how excited he is about his rookie class. He said that former Notre Dame receiver Golden Tate is making more plays than anyone in practice so far.
Carroll tried to explain why he didn't take former USC safety Taylor Mays. Carroll said he loved Mays, but it just didn't work out. "We felt very fortunate to get [Texas safety] Earl Thomas," Carroll said. "He could play corner if we needed him to in addition to safety." |
