U.S. soccer star Landon Donovan joined the show to preview the World Cup and Saturday's matchup against England.
"When you think of the history of the World Cup," Donovan said, "England is a team that has historically done relatively well and gotten out of the opening round. A country like us to them is a guaranteed victory. Most of the press and probably most of the players think as long as we show up and play a decent game, we can win this game."
Donovan said that the players have to adjust to the English media. "They're all trying to provoke you to get you to say something," Donovan said. But he said the U.S. is careful not to provide bulletin board material.
Dan asked Donovan who the one English player they're most worried about. Donovan said Wayne Rooney. "When he wants to play and he's in form, he's one of the best players in the world," Donovan said.
Dan then asked Donovan the best player in the world. "Right now , if you had to pick one player, you'd pick Lionel Mesi for sure." |
