NBC NFL analyst Tony Dungy joined the show to talk about the preseason. Here are some of his takes ...

-- Dungy said he had a problem with Rex Ryan's profanity in Hard Knocks. Dan asked if he would hire someone who cursed that much.

"It's hard for me to be around that," Dungy said. "If I were in charge, I wouldn't hire somebody like that.

Dan asked Dungy if commissioner Roger Goodell should call Ryan and ask him to tone it down. "I would hope that he does," Dungy said.

-- Dungy said he thinks Brett Favre will return. "I think they have a Super Bowl-caliber team and I think he would miss being part of that," Dungy said.

-- Dungy had some interesting comments on the future of Peyton Manning. He doesn't think Manning will act like Favre. He'll know when he wants to quit and he'll let the team know and let them plan for the future.

-- Dungy said he would get Ben Roethlisberger some playing time, because he's going to be sitting for at least four weeks. "You've gotta get him ready," Dungy said.

-- Dungy said he thinks the Rams should play Sam Bradford even if he struggles. "Sam Bradford is going to be your quarterback," Dungy said. "Put him in and go."

-- Dan asked Dungy about falling in love with a player during preseason. "I tried not to," Dungy said. "Coach [Chuck] Noll gave me some good advice when I started coaching in Pittsburgh. Before the first game of the season, don't cut anybody and don't put anybody in the Hall of Fame."

-- Dungy said that all you care about in the preseason is how your first team did early in the game.
