The NFL Network's Adam Schefter has the latest on the NFL trade deadline. He said the Chiefs are asking for a second- and fifth-round pick for tight end Tony Gonzalez. According to Schefter, K.C. isn't going to get that. Schefter says the Chiefs have always been difficult to trade with, which makes a deal less likely.

Schefter also said he heard Lions receiver Roy Williams could have been a Cowboy if Dallas didn't have so many injuries. The Lions wanted two first-round picks over the offseason for the receiver. Schefter thinks the Cowboys could get Williams for a Miles Austin and a first-rounder, but it probably won't happen.

Dan and Schefter also agree that the NFL would be wise to move back the trade deadline until about Week 12. But Schefter says that as far as he knows, the league hasn't looked at that yet.

Schefter also ran down some of the hot teams around the NFL. He says don't sleep on the Jacksonville Jaguars or San Diego Chargers. In the NFC, Schefter says watch the NFC South teams, which are quietly playing as well as the more vaunted NFC East.

One more note: Schefter expects the NFL to suspend Adam Jones. Schefter says it will be a slap on the wrist to let Jones know he better get his act together.

Dan thinks the Cowboys themselves should have suspended Jones -- like the Panthers did with Steve Smith and the Giants did with Plaxico Burress. Dan and Adam agree that the Cowboys were afraid to do that with other injuries in the defensive backfield. Schefter said that if he were the commissioner, he would suspend Jones for the rest of the season.
