Simms: LT might not be able to play in today's NFL

Tony Romo is now considering playing against the Rams.

The very funny Phil Simms had interesting takes on the drama in Dallas. Here's what he said:

-- Simms isn't sure Lawrence Taylor could survive in today's NFL. Simms says people treat pro athletes much differently today in public. When they go out to clubs, it's a recipe for trouble.

Simms says the difference between Adam Jones and LT is that Taylor never got into trouble with the law. Taylor got in trouble with the team, not authorities, so the Giants could handle it in-house.

-- Simms says that Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo knows best what he should do with his injured pinkie. Simms won't offer an opinion. But he says the player shouldn't play if it will hurt the team. Sometimes the player is the last to know.

Simms thinks Dallas offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will know what to do. He's a former QB and will have a great sense of what Romo can do.

-- Simms says Brett Favre is different than other quarterbacks. He doesn't take as many big hits as someone like Romo. Favre gets rid of the ball quickly and he doesn't plant his feet like traditional quarterbacks. That's why Favre set the record for consecutive starts.
