UCLA freshman Jrue Holiday should be a star this year.

SI's Seth Davis brings a lot of enthusiasm to the table. Here are some of his early-season takes from his interview with Dan:

-- Even with Darren Collison there, highly touted freshman Jrue Holliday is the best player at UCLA.

-- North Carolina looks like a strong No. 1 on paper, but the Heels know it's a long season and anything can happen.

-- Davidson should be good again this year, but they lost their point guard Jason Richards. Star Stephen Curry will have to play more point guard, which could hurt his game. But Davis thinks Davidson will be a tough out in the NCAA Tournament.

-- Davis is against the age minimum, because he thinks it's unfair to the kids. But he thinks college basketball benefits. Davis does say that the last two years have been ridiculously talented freshman classes, which has made everyone think differently about the rule.

-- Davis defended the college basketball season as relevant. He says look at college football. Ohio State loses two games and their game are totally irrelevant in a way.

-- Davis said that this season will be the worst year in Indiana basketball. Davis said that Tom Crean will quickly fix that, so the Big Ten should enjoy it while they can. Davis thinks Crean will re-establish Indiana as a high-class program.

Dan asked Davis who had a worse exit: Kelvin Sampson or Bobby Knight. Davis said Sampson was worse, because he cheated. Knight just behaved poorly.
