Dustin Keller made several big catches Thursday night.

The NFL Network's Bob Papa called the Jets-Patriots thriller last night. Here are some of his takes on the game:
-- Papa said he talked to Brett Favre before the game and the veteran QB talked about the Jets' mental block about beating the Patriots. But Papa pointed out Favre and other New York newcomers don't have that history.
-- Papa said there was discussion about whether the Patriots should have gone for two on the final play of regulation, because the Jets were reeling. New England ended up losing because it lost the coin flip.
-- The key play was when the Jets converted on 3rd-and-15 in overtime with a Favre to Dustin Keller pass. The Patriots would have gotten the ball in great position if they had stopped New York there.
-- Papa thinks the Jets have had a couple of close calls this season in games they've won, but they're developing a mental toughness.
-- Papa said that lots of folks expected Favre to throw a pick. But Papa said he was locked in last night and wasn't going to make a mistake that would cost the Jets a win.
-- Papa said New England quarterback Matt Cassel is starting to get it. He's gaining confidence and his mobility is huge. Cassel became the first quarterback to ever throw for 400 yards and run for over 60 yards in a game.
-- Dan asked Papa who does more damage in the playoffs: Pats or Jets? Papa said the Jets because of Favre. |
