Want to join the SI Sportsman of the Year debate? Michael Phelps appears to be a front-runner, but there are plenty of worthy candidates. SI.com has a whole section with different nominations.

Dan brought up Kevin Garnett. Some of the other interesting nominees include: Padraig Harrington, CC Sabathia, Josh Hamilton, Stephen Curry, Hope Solo and John Elway (wait 'til you hear the reason for that choice -- very interesting).

As Paulie pointed out, SI has made some interesting choices in the past.
