Radio Clicks: Plax, BCS and odd Thanksgiving misconceptions

Every Monday through Friday we scour the Web for the best radio interviews in the nation so you don't have to.

The Giants' Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg last Friday.

Plaxico Burress dominated the airwaves across the country on Monday, evoking almost as much comic response as serious analysis. WFAN's Boomer and Carton ask what would have happened if Burress had accidentally shot something else besides his leg. Down in Miami, 790 The Ticket's Sid Rosenberg had an interesting interview with Giants beat writer Ralph Vacchiano. They make a great case that the Giants are just as good without Plaxico Burress.

One angry Patriot

New England defensive tackle Vince Wilfork wasn't happy about Steelers safety Ryan Clark's hit on Pats receiver Wes Welker on Sunday. Fast forward to about the 11:00 mark in this WEEI (Boston) interview, and Wilfork says Clark is brave when the receiver can't see him coming, but that doesn't prove anything. Wilfork says Clark definitely deserves NFL discipline.

Deep in the heart of discontent

Across the state of Texas, people aren’t too happy about the new BCS rankings, which pushed the Sooners into the number two spot ahead of the Longhorns. Brad and Craig at Houston’s 790 the Sports Animal say although there’s plenty of blame to go around, the problem isn’t just the BCS; it’s the Big 12’s decision to use BCS rankings to break ties.

In case you missed it on Dan Patrick Show

Reggie Miller thinks New York fans need to stop clamoring for LeBron James.

Reggie Miller tells everyone to calm down about LeBron James' next contract. Tiki Barber tells Dan that the Giants don't need Plaxico Burress any more and the talented receiver likely won't be back in New York.  SI.com's Peter King explains why he thinks Eli Manning isn't the NFL's MVP right now. And UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel offers a unique perspective on why a playoff system is inevitable in college football.

Thanksgiving left-overs

There’s some confusion across the NFL about what exactly went down during the first Thanksgiving. In honor of the holiday, Bob and Dan at The Ticket in Dallas ask NFL players Martellus Bennett and Courtney Brown about the origins of Turkey Day, and come up with some strange responses. Brown says the Pilgrims came over on the Santa Maria, while Bennett is more focused on what everyone was smoking in their peace pipes.

Cheeseheads melting down

On the Doug Russell Show at Sports Radio 1250 in Milwaukee, the talk isn’t about the playoffs anymore for the Packers; it’s about whether Green Bay is even a “good team.” There’s not exactly consensus in response, but as the conversation goes on, the negatives outweigh the positives.

Clip you want to send to MSNBC-loving friends

Jay and Bill at Detroit’s 97.1 The Ticket have a favorite broadcaster – MSNBC’s Rita Cosby – and in this clip, they dig into their archives for a classic Cosby moment. The duo can’t get enough of the gravelly-voiced Cosby’s interview with the WWE’s Trish Stratus.
