Pete Rose broke Ty Cobb's all-time hit record exactly 23 years ago. Pete explained that the reason he had a chance to go for the record was because he got so hot at the end of the 1984 season, so teams thought he could still play in '85.
Rose thinks that one of the reason no one will break his hit record is finances. The best players make so much money, they don't need to play that late in their career. And they get so much money, teams won't want to pay them that late in their career.
Rose had some other interesting things to say.
1. He thinks the Rays could make the World Series.
2. They may face the Brewers once they get there.
3. He loves USC this weekend against Ohio State.
4. Players may have an easier time maintaining their confidence than football players, because baseball players know they're going to fail seven out of 10 times.
