The Pats may franchise-tag quarterback Matt Cassel.

The Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy weighs in on some of the juicy storylines coming out of Bean Town.

-- The Celtics were proably waiting for Kevin Garnett to give his OK before signing Stephon Marbury. KG gave a luke-warm nod to the deal.

-- Shaughnessy thinks Boston College will move quickly to fire Jeff Jagodzinski. The school won't mess around, since we're in the heart of recruiting season.

-- If Tom Brady was healthy, Matt Cassel would be history in New England. But now it looks like the Pats will franchise-tage him. Shaughnessy thinks that Cassel would be better off with the Lions than the Patriots, because he would play in Detroit.
