Jim Rice joined Dan to discuss his 15-year wait to be inducted to the Hall of Fame.

Rice was sitting on his couch watching The Young and the Restless yesterday, waiting for the call from the HOF. The call itself was pretty non eventful -- someone just called to let him know he was in along with Rickey Henderson.

Rice does not have a Rickey story, but he always called him "speedy." He wanted Rickey to put the ball in play because he was dangerous if he took a walk and get on base. He compared it to a Texas sportswriter not voting Dustin Pedroia as MVP.

He thinks he may have been helped by the steroid era since it made his numbers look more impressive. As for the Blyleven/Dawson/Morris debate, Rice would take Dawson, though he concedes that Morris was a big-game pitcher.

Rice has heard from a variety of people including Jo Jo White, Dave Winfield, Jesse Barfield, Bud Selig and a host of other people. He still has 40-plus voicemails to check. He thinks Rickey Henderson will steal the show at the induction ceremony. As for the poll question, Rice wouldn't vote for Mark McGwire. He admits that his vote will be affected by whether or not they are found guity of using performance enhancing drugs.
