The MLB Network's Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams joined the show
Williams discussed when Curt Schilling would hide his face in a towel when he was on the mound in the 1993 World Series. Williams said he confronted Schilling afterwards, but Schilling didn't have much to say.
"In 1993 Curt Schilling won 16 games. I saved 12 of them, without blowing one," Williams said.
Williams said if he was going to hit Schilling it would have to be in the back, because Schilling would probably be running away.
Williams said it was crazy to think Dan could get a hit off Nolan Ryan. Williams said Nolan would throw one at his earhole.
"You're heart might be in it, but your ass wouldn't be," Williams said.
Williams shared a great story about former Cub Shawon Dunston being freaked out by Ryan.
Williams also talked about rumors Ryan and the Astros' Mike Scott were scuffing the ball. Nowadays, the one guy who has that kind of movement is Arizona's Brandon Webb.
Williams isn't surprised the high-priced Yankees have had early-season struggles. "The people they are buying are human," Williams said. "And they're going to have bad days."
Also, Mitch wanted to let us know about the breast cancer program he's working on. Here's where you can find out about it: www.mlb.com/honorarybatgirl
"Major League Baseball (MLB) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® have collaborated to launch a search to find an “Honorary Bat Girl” for each Club in celebration of Mother’s Day in stadiums around the country. Lasting until May 1, MLB.com will host a contest providing fans an opportunity to share stories of “going to bat” against breast cancer in their daily lives. " |
