TNT's Charles Barkley joined the show to discuss the NBA Playoffs. Here are some of the highlights of his interview with Dan.
-- Charles thinks the Lakers came out flat last night, and it's going to be a long, hard-fought series.
-- Charles said he likes Ron Artest a lot but something is missing there. He said Artest can have good days and bad guys.
Charles compared Artest to Dennis Rodman. Barkley said they both "have some stuff going on."
Charles also said he likes John Daly and Mike Tyson. "I don't worry about guys being rich and famous," Barkley said. "I just worry about how the story is going to end."
-- Barkley took exception to Phil Jackson's statement that he'd take Dwight Howard over LeBron James to start a franchise. Barkley would take LeBron. Then they got into an argument, who was better at 23 -- LeBron or Michael Jordan. Jordan scored over 37 points per game when he was that age.
-- Dan asked Barkley how he gets at Jordan. Barkley said Jordan isn't good looking. "Anybody that got $500 million is good looking," Barkley said. "If Michael was a plumber he wouldn't be good looking." Barkley, however, thinks Tiger Woods is handsome. But he uses a pick to fluff up his hair. Barkley called himself "charismatic and sexy."
-- Barkley said that often we underestimate how good NBA players are. We say "that guy can't play." But the reality is, everyone in the NBA can play. They're just not as good as Kobe Bryant.
-- Dan asked Barkley who's tougher, basketball players or baseball players. "Every time two baseball players collide into each other in the outfield it looks like they were shot. ... Baseball players are made out of tissue paper," Barkley said.
-- Dan asked Barkley about his improving golf game. "If I could find the guy who invented that game, I'd beat the hell out of him," Barkley said. |
