ESPN executive editor John Walsh joined the show to discuss the network's approach to covering the allegations against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

-- Walsh said ESPN has had a history of civil lawsuits that have later been dropped, and the athletes' reputation is then sullied. Walsh says they try to have a consistent standard.

"The merits of a news story are always up for judgment on an individual basis," Walsh said.

-- Walsh said that he doesn't want to comment on how his network did on the Roethlisberger story until the story unfolds.

"Too many judgments are rushed to be made before we know about a case," Walsh said.

-- Walsh said that the blogosphere has forced ESPN to think even harder about how they cover cases.

-- Dan mentioned that he was forced to at least consider Roethlisberger is on a reality show on ESPN by them ignoring the Big Ben story. "That has nothing to do with a value of a news story," Walsh said.

-- Dan asked Walsh why ESPN is barring New York Post writers from the network for how the paper covered the Erin Andrews story. "If we were the parents of the victim of this crime and we saw the words New York Post on our air, we would feel we weren't doing justice to our colleague," Walsh said.
