FOX's Tim McCarver joined the show to discuss the latest stories in baseball.
-- McCarver doesn't think Pete Rose deserves a second chance to get back in baseball. McCarver said the gambling rule is on every door in every clubhouse. It's engrained in players from the earliest days of minor league baseball.
"Gambling is probably the worst charger that can be levied against a player or an ex-player or a manager," McCarver said.
-- McCarver thinks that Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay is headed for the Texas Rangers. He said he doesn't have definite knowledge, but because of the Nolan Ryan connection, he thinks a deal will get done today.
-- McCarver thinks MLB should release the entire 2003 list, although he doesn't know how they would legally do that.
-- McCarver thinks the Phils were smart to get Cliff Lee instead of giving up more to get Halladay. McCarver thinks Lee is a very good pitcher.
"I think they made the better deal with Cleveland," McCarver said.
-- McCarver said they should put some sort of marker next to players' names in the Hall of Fame and let fans decide the validity of it.
-- McCarver said that he's now recording a CD and credits Dan for getting this all started. He said Dan was his "Col. Tom Parker." |
