NBC's Tony Dungy joined us on short notice to talk about big topics around the NFL. Here are some of his takes.
-- Dan asked Dungy about Michael Vick's state of mind. "He's excited that he's going to dress," Dungy said. "He feels like he's going to be active. He's really worked on getting ready."
Dungy said that he's gotten 95 percent positive feedback on him helping Vick. But Dungy was surprised how serious the 5 percent disapproval was.
"In my heart, you gotta forgive," Dungy said. "You gotta give a guy a second chance."
-- Dungy said he felt good about the Colts' chances on Monday night during the game against the Colts. "I was pretty comfortorable that Indy was going to win the whole time," Dungy said.
Dungy was watching and saying out loud that time of possession doesn't matter when you play the Colts. "The only thing that matters when you play Indy is the score," Dungy said.
-- Dungy said he knows Plaxico Burress pretty well, but he hasn't talked to him recently. He would like to though.
-- Dungy said that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants his team to be the center of attention. Dungy thinks that can be tough on the coach or quarterback Tony Romo. "That doesn't always help you win," Dungy said. "That can create a lot of distractions."
-- Dan told Tony that Archie Manning said on the show that Peyton thinks Dungy will come back. Dungy said if he really wanted to coach again, he would have stayed in Indy, because that was the ideal situation -- a great owner, great team, etc.
Dungy said that Peyton must be bringing his own mentality to that observation.
-- Dungy gave a shout out to Polk County Correctional Institute. The inmates listen to the show. |
