USC coach Pete Carroll joined the show to discuss the upcoming game against Notre Dame and more.

-- Carroll said that when he first went to Notre Dame, the team basically did a campus tour. They made too much of it and might not have been as prepared for the game. Carroll said that they learned they need to focus solely on football.

"We don't need to go see Touchdown Jesus or visit the Grotto to get fired up to play football," Carroll said.

-- Dan asked Carroll for a scouting report on Jimmy Clausen. Here's Carroll's take on the Notre Dame QB: "He's much more comfortable. ... He's moving really well. He's getting out of trouble. He's finding guys when he scrambles. ... That's a little difference then he's done in the past."

-- Dan asked Carroll if he could root for Washington coach Steve Sarkisian just a little. Carroll said no way he could root for him even one little bit. Carroll said he loves Sarkisian but would never wish him luck on game day against the Trojans.

-- Carroll said he watches his former players in the NFL. "I'm watching every game like he's my own kid," Carroll said. "I love watching him."

-- Carroll said that injured running back Stafon Johnson is doing great. Johnson hasn't said anything yet and they're being cautious, but so far the recovery is going well. "The doctors are thrilled with what has happened so far," Carroll said.

Carroll said that Johnson handled the weightlifting accident very well. Carroll said Johnson was very smart and poised about the way he reacted to keep his breathing going until they could get help.
