The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Bernie Miklasz joined the show to discuss Mark McGwrire joining the Cardinals.

Miklasz is surprised that McGwire is giving up his privacy. Miklasz said McGwire appeared to be having fun playing golf and living in a gated community away from the media. "He's voluntarily giving all that up ... I think his life is going to become a lot more chaotic," Miklasz said.

Dan asked Bernie if he had just one question for McGwire, what would it be? Miklasz said: "Why won't you come clean?"

Miklasz thinks the best thing for McGwire would be to put everything on the table. "He would win a lot of support if he just unburdened himself," Miklasz said.

Miklasz, however, said McGwire is viewed differently than Barry Bonds. Miklasz said that McGwire is still popular.

"Anyone with a brain can figure out he was juicing, but he's always demanded great respect within the game," Miklasz said. "Mark is a person baseball people generally like as a human being."

Miklasz also isn't sure how good McGwire will be as a hitting coach. "Is he going to be a distraction or a hitting coach these players can rely on?" Miklasz asked.

Miklasz said that McGwire is awkward around the media and still hasn't gotten his head around this whole issue.
