FOX's Howie Long joined the show to discuss the NFL at the midway point. Here are some of Long's opinions.

-- Long had discouraging comments on his former team the Raiders. "You keep thinking they're going to start to pull out of it," Long said. "They've had some moments, but those moments keep going back to the same old thing."

-- Long said that Larry Johnson has to go to the right team to succeed. "You have to have a pretty strong coach and a pretty strong locker room," Long said.

-- Long said that he thinks Brett Favre should probably sit at some point in the second half to rest for the playoffs. They need Favre upright to reach the Super Bowl.

-- Long said Big Ben is the best quarterback at throwing with guys down around his ankles. "I'd pay to watch Ben Roethlisberger," Long said. "He's fun to watch."

-- Long talked about his trip to Afghanistan with the FOX crew.

"This trip to me was a different trip," Long said. "Very emotional. Inspirational. Awe-inspiring. And also very sobering. The trip ran the gamut."

Long couldn't say strongly enough how much he appreciates what our military sacrifices for us.
