New BCS executive director Bill Hancock joined the show to talk about his new role running the controversial college football system.

Dan and Hancock got into a pretty good debate about the current system vs. playoffs.
"The BCS is the best way to match-up number 1 and number 2 and preserve the bowl system, Hancock said. "And if you think the BCS system is controversial, wait until you get a playoff. It’ll be even more contentious."

Dan asked Hancock which was better, the end of the college football or college basketball season. Hancock said it was a tie. Dan said no ties. "College football wins in six overtime," Hancock said. "Because so many teams celebrate in the end."

Hancock also said that he can't figure out how to squeeze in academic finals if you had playoffs. Hancock said there is no perfect solution for playoffs.

Also, Hancock said you'd lose a lot by de-emphasizing the bowl games. Hancock kept saying the bowl games are great. "They're very successful," Hancock said. "The ratings are good. The student-athletes love it." Hancock said bowl games wouldn't be the same if there was a playoff system.

But he did say theoretically things could eventually evolve. "The commissioners, they manage it. They're open to change."
