* Hawks' 56 wins was one short of franchise record (57 in 1993-94) and a 10 game improvement from 1995-96 (46 wins).
* Were 36-5 at the Omni, matching the team record for home wins (36-5 in 1993-94), including a 20-game winning streak.
* Hawks defeated every NBA team this season at least once.
* Dikembe Mutombo and Mookie Blaylock made the NBA's all defensive team. Mutombo won the NBA defensive player of the year award and was a first-teamer. Blaylock lead the NBA in steals with 2.7 a game and was a second-teamer.
* Were one of two teams (Lakers) to beat all four division winners (Miami, Chicago, Utah & Seattle)
