Rookie Kim Herring, who takes over at free safety this year, saw playing time at another position during his first season at Penn State: tailback. The Ravens love the 1997 second-rounder's speed; he has been timed at 4.35 in the 40. "He can run and cover," says defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis of the 5'11" 199-pounder, whose seven interceptions led the Big Ten last year. "He's a good tackler, and he was a leader at Penn State."
