Flacco spread the ball around very effectively in Week 1, hitting seven different targets with more than one completion. He's not going to wow you with numbers a la Brees or Brady, but he's a consistent, strong-armed option on a very good team. He's an advisable start, just under the elite level.
Mason's fake retirement couldn't hide the fact that he's gone for over 1,000 yards in seven of the past eight years. While not quite at the elite level, Mason is a quality fantasy WR and remains capable of gaining 100 yards or scoring a touchdown on any given Sunday.
Heap has very real potential to have a major bounce back year. His 74 yards and one touchdown in Week 1 could be a harbinger of very good things to come. At a thin position, the once-elite Heap is worth a look here.
The Baltimore D disappointed against the Chiefs during Week 1. Look for them to do some good things against San Diego, but ultimately come up short, potentially beginning a season-long decline for one of the most accomplished defensive units of the decade.
Rivers had a meh Week 1, throwing for 253 yards, one touchdown and one interception after throwing for 4000-plus yards and 34 TDs in 2008. This is not the week that he returns to '08 form against an active Baltimore defense. He'll be just good enough to win. A good fantasy option, but not elite this week.
Unlike the starter, Sproles does have the ability to turn any touch into a touchdown. His game-winning score against Oakland in Week 1 was a nice springboard for the rest of the year. It's unclear what kind of a toll 20 touches a game would take on the electrifying back. Tomlinson owners hope they don't have to find out.
Jackson has emerged as Rivers' top WR target and is nosing towards being an elite fantasy wideout. He's likely to get to 1,000 yards again this year. Against Baltimore, he's a good option, but will not likely crack 100 yards.
What happened to this guy? On the Dolphins, he looked like he was the future of the position. On this team, with all the weapons around him, he just disappears. He was thrown to once on Monday night, and didn't register a reception. Strong recommendation to avoid.
