Fantasy Player Projections

Seattle Seahawks
Candlestick Park | Sunday, September 20 | 4:05 p.m. EST (FOX)
Pick: Seahawks 21, 49ers 17
San Francisco 49ers
Pos.PlayerProjection
QBMatt Hasselbeck
260 pass yards, 2 pass TD, 1 INT
San Francisco doesn't have much of a pass rush, and we think that's the difference here. Hasselbeck is dealing with his best WR corps ever.
RBJulius Jones
75 rush yards, 1 rush TD
A large chunk of his 117 yards last week came on a 62 yard TD scamper. He could have some success against a Niners unit that was 14th in the NFL last year.
RBEdgerrin James
50 rush yards
Edge is good for 10 carries a game, but won't be counted on to put up any major numbers.
WRT.J. Houshmandzadeh
115 yards, 1 TD
Seattle's prized free-agent signing had an auspicious Week 1 debut, but look for a bona fide breakout in Week 2 against the Bills.
WRDeion Branch
5 rec, 35 yards
Branch missed week one with a nagging hamstring issue. Monitor his progress leading up to Sunday.
WRNate Burleson
3 rec, 30 yards
Don't expect Burleson to receive the same number of targets as he did in Week 1 when Branch was inactive.
TEJohn Carlson
7 rec, 90 yards, 1 TD
The TE has always played a big part in the Mora/Knapp system, and this year will be no exception as John Carlson becomes one of the top TEs in the game. The Niners defense that so adeptly bottled up the vaunted Cardinals WRs, but allowed Tim Hightower to catch 12 passes may face a similar, dump off threat in Carlson.
KOlindo Mare
3 PATs
There are too many better options out there to waste your time with Mare.
Defense
2 sacks, 2 INT
They pitched a shutout in Week 1, but they'll have a tough time matching that performance against an improved 49ers' offense.
Pos.PlayerProjection
QBShaun Hill
180 pass yards, 1 pass TD, 2 INT
The quarterback is just an incidental element in an offense that runs through Gore. If you're depending on Hill as your QB1, you're in trouble whether you know it or not.
RBFrank Gore
3 rec, 40 rec yards, 85 rush yards
A top-flight fantasy running back by any standards, Gore's two-touchdown performance on Sunday is just a taste of things to come.
RBGlen Coffee
20 rush yards, 1 rush TD
Coffee's promising preseason didn't translate to much in Sunday's regular-season debut. Don't give up on him just yet -- but don't even think about starting him.
WRJosh Morgan
3 rec, 40 yards
The second-year wideout has upside to burn -- and he's a starter on the depth chart -- but you'd better keep him out of your lineup until he shows you something of substance.
WRIsaac Bruce
5 rec, 50 yards
Firmly in the twilight of his career, Bruce will probably remain as maddeningly inconsistent as he was in 2008. Start him only as a last resort.
TEVernon Davis
3 rec, 50 yards, 1 TD
Davis should continue to be a valuable safety blanket for Hill, tossing in the occasional touchdown.
KJoe Nedney
2 PATs, 1 FG
Nedney could have fantasy value since he's got a strong leg and the Niners' offense isn't exactly emphatic in the red zone. But chances are there's better options on your waiver wire.
Defense
2 sacks, 1 INT
Three sacks and a pair of interceptions against the Cardinals is promising. Let's see what they can do against another pass-first offense in Arizona.
