Rob Bordley
Bethesda, MD.
Bordley, 49, the lacrosse coach at the Landon School for the
past 23 seasons, guided the Bears to a 13-3 overall record and
the Interstate Athletic Conference championship for the 17th
consecutive year. The Bears beat Georgetown Prep, the No.
1-ranked team in the region, 10-8 to win the title.

Tressa Thompson
Bloomfield, Neb.
Thompson, a senior shot-putter at Nebraska, set a meet record at
the NCAA outdoor track and field championships with a put of
60'81/2", eclipsing the 1996 mark of 59'113/4" by UCLA's Valeyta
Althouse. Thompson, who is also the NCAA indoor shot put
titlist, won the outdoors by more than two feet.

Mike Scioletti
Hyannis, Mass.
Scioletti, a junior shortstop at Army, won the Patriot League
triple crown, batting .415 with 12 home runs and 67 RBIs. The
last two stats are West Point single-season records. Scioletti
was named conference player of the year as the Black Knights won
their first Patriot League title.

Christina DeKraay
Chicago
DeKraay, 31, an M.B.A. candidate at Northwestern's Kellogg
Business School, was the women's college criterium cycling
titlist for the second year in a row. In 1996 she also won the
women's college omnium and the women's national Masters road
race in the 30-34 age group.

George Weissfisch
Pasadena, Texas
Weissfisch, 27, a student at South Texas College of Law in
Houston, won the black belt heavyweight fighting division at the
national taekwondo championships for the third time. He was 5-0
during the four days of the single-elimination, full-contact
tournament.

Sangeeta Puri
Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Sangeeta, a senior at Pacific Palisades High, broke two Los
Angeles-area girls' high school swimming records set by Kim
Schlegal in 1981. Sangeeta, who competed for India at the '96
Olympics, swam the 100-yard backstroke in 58.48 and the 100
butterfly in 58.69. She will attend Princeton next fall.
