Kinshasa Davis
LONG BEACH, CALIF.
Ed Ruisz
KINTNERSVILLE, PA.
Kinshasa, a senior at Woodrow Wilson High, and Ruisz, 42, track and field coach at Palisades High, won national and state honors, respectively. Kinshasa was named the U.S. girls track and field athlete of the year after running the 200 meters in 22.9 at the state championships and anchoring Wilson High's relay teams to U.S. high school indoor records at the scholastic championships in the 4x200 (1:36.55) and 4x400 (3:42.7) meters. She will attend USC. Ruisz was named Pennsylvania girls track and field coach of the year after guiding the Pirates to their 150th straight dual-meet win, a streak dating to April 21, 1981, and their 15th straight Colonial League title.

Angie Adams
CLIO, MICH.
Adams, a sophomore second baseman on the Adrian (Mich.) College softball team, set a Division III record with a 33-game hitting streak that will carry into next season. The previous record of 32 games was held by Lisa Cancilla of Chapman University in Orange, Calif.

Mike Griesser
CARLISLE, OHIO
Griesser, 19, won three tennis titles at the National Amateur Hardcourt Championships. He beat John Long of Ann Arbor, Mich., for the singles title 6-4, 6-3 and teamed with Ed Carter of Gahanna, Ohio, to win the doubles crown. He won the mixed doubles with Simone Kung of Skokie, Ill.

Michaela Anderson
WARREN, R.I.
Michaela, 9, rolled a 199 to set a duckpin bowling world record for her age group (boys and girls 9-10). Michaela had an 86 league average but opened with five straight strikes on her way to the record score. She added a 109 and a 100 in the next two games for a 408 series.

David Jones
EAGLEVILLE, TENN.
Jones, 45, a developer-investor, won the Badwater Ultramarathon in California, a 146-mile footrace from Badwater, Death Valley (282 feet below sea level), to the trailhead of Mount Whitney (8,360 feet above sea level). Jones beat 26 other participants, finishing the course in 29 hours, 10 minutes.
