Hernandez, 43, won three gold medals, two silvers and two bronzes at the Grand National AAU Wrestling Championships. Competing in the 180 pound division, he participated in all three types of wrestling contested at the event: freestyle, Greco-Roman and Sombo (Russian judo).

Stout

HAGERSTOWN, IND.

Stout, a senior setter on the Miami of Ohio women's volleyball team, broke the Mid-American Conference women's career assists record with 61 in a win over Central Michigan and had increased her total to 5,239 through last Friday. The old mark of 4,869 was held by Patti Godzinski of the University of Akron.

Camden, 10, won the under-12 division of the British Junior Court Tennis Championships. He's the first American to win any division in the event, the most prestigious for this medieval precursor to lawn tennis. Camden beat Matthew Webb, 11, of London in the final round with a score of 8-5.

Freeman

ROSLYN, N.Y.

Freeman, 28, reclaimed the world record for the greatest number of golf holes played in a 12-hour period when he completed 467—or one less than 26 rounds of 18 holes—to eclipse the mark set by Doug Wert of College Station, Pa., in 1993. Freeman had established a record of 429 in '91.

Swatt

  Martha Swatt
SALT LAKE CITY

Swatt, 35, completed the grand slam of ultra-distance running by finishing these four 100-mile races in the same year: the Old Dominion 100, the Western States 100, the Leadville 100 and the Wasatch 100. She won the Wasatch with a clocking of 23:55.43, a women's record for the event.

Philippi

  Mark Philippi
LAS VEGAS

Philippi, 32, a strength and conditioning coach at UNLV, won the national Strongest Man competition by squatting a platform on which there were five showgirls and nine lead bars (955 pounds), deadlifting four boulders (810) and running 131 feet in 29 seconds while pulling a bus weighing 18 tons.
