Graves, 34, a staff sergeant and a member of the 1992 and '96 U.S. Olympic shooting teams, was named the Army's male athlete of the year for earning three gold medals, three silvers and four bronzes in international and national competitions this year.

HAMILTON, OHIO

Blaine, 7, won the bantamweight (62-pound) division at the Judo Junior Olympics by defeating Alex Wagman of Buffalo Grove, Ill. Blaine won all five of his three-minute matches by Ippons (decisive throws). He defeated three of his opponents in less than 60 seconds each.

MILLER PLACE, N.Y.

Tiso, 45, collected her 600th career victory as a women's volleyball coach when SUNY Stony Brook beat Southampton (N.Y.) College 15-4, 15-3, 15-9. In 24 years of coaching she has won 615 games (252 losses), the fifth-highest total among Division II women's volleyball coaches.

GRAND HAVEN, MICH.

Cecilia, 17, won the junior women's division at the mountain bike world championships. She completed the 13.5-mile Alpine course in Château d'Oex, Switzerland, in 1:30:37, defeating 1996 world champion Helena Eriksson of Uppsala, Sweden, by 35 seconds to win the race.

ALLENTOWN, PA.

Tashun, a senior tailback for Dieruff High, broke an Eastern Penn Conference single-game rushing record when he ran for 362 yards in the Huskies' 39-20 win over Freedom High. He led the Huskies to a 6-4 record this year with 2,273 yards rushing and 33 touchdowns.

NEWPORT

Alison, 37, captained Willy and her six-woman crew to victory at the International Women's Keelboat Championship, thus winning the biennial 10-race regatta for the fourth straight time. Swan Dive, the second-place boat, was skippered by Jody Swanson of Buffalo.
