Man, if this guy isn't buying lottery tickets by now, he's
a fool. Bill Parcells guides the New England Patriots to
Super Bowl XXXI. True, the Patriots lose, but somehow,
Parcells
still comes out a winner.
The Reader's Digest
version: Parcells dislikes working for Robert Kraft, the
Patriots' owner. Kraft, who'd rather not have the
bull-headed Parcells as his coach anymore, wants him gone,
but won't release him from the final year of his contract,
thus preventing Parcells from
becoming the coach of the New York Jets. But, the
NFL brokers a deal in which the Jets surrender future draft
picks to the Patriots, who, in turn, release Parcells. The
prodigal son comes homeParcells led the Giants to two
Super Bowl wins ('86 and '91)and immediately transforms
the Jets (1-15 in '96)
into a midseason first-place team and a serious playoff
contender. Was it all worth it? Jets fans think
so.
