Every week there are new names on golf's leaderboards. In 1999, Tiger Woods and Colin Montogomerie were atop the leaderboards at an astonishing rate. Woods' 1999 was considered one of the best years in the history of golf. His remarkable eight PGA victories included his second major, the PGA championship at Medinah. Woods became the first player with eight PGA Tour wins in one year since Johnny Miller in 1974. His $6,616,585 in earnings also shattered the record set by David Duval in 1998. Colin Montogomerie took his dominance of the European tour to a new level in 1999. The 36-year-old topped the European money list for a record seventh consecutive year with $2.08 million, and won six tournaments, including the World Match Play Championship. "I have never won as many times and I've never shown that level of consistency throughout the whole year," the Scot said.
