"In the last game of the Series, with the Sox hopelessly behind, Yastrzemski came up in the ninth and singled sharply. The crowd in Boston stood and roared its acclaim, probably because, more than anyone else, Carl Yastrzemski still believed in the dream."

Issue Date: December 25, 1967

In 1967 Carl Yastrzemski batted .326 with 44 home runs and 121 RBIs to pace the American League in all three categories and win the Triple Crown. Yastrzemski's MVP season helped the Sox stave off the Detroit Tigers by one game and win their first AL pennant in 21 years. Yaz also hit .400 with three homers and five RBIs in the World Series, though the Sox lost in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals.
