Pop Culture Q&A

First album you bought?
Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morissette. I love Alanis Morissette. I still listen to that CD today. A lot of people don't know about my favorite song on that album. After the last track, if you wait like 10 minutes there is a hidden track called Would You Forgive Me Love and it's just her singing with no instruments at all. You just hear her voice and it's real emotional. It's not just like someone singing; it kind of grabs you and it's really beautiful. She has the perfect voice and the song is just amazing. My friend told me about it because I would have never found it on my own.

First concert you attended?
I saw Michael Jackson in concert in Israel about 10 years ago. I was really little but I remember my older brother took me to the concert and it was amazing. I mean Michael Jackson was an obsession. People wore pants with his face printed on them and dressed like him; it was crazy. I'm really proud to say that I went to a Michael Jackson concert but I don't remember anything really because I was too little to be into it. The only thing I remember was him singing my favorite song, Man in the Mirror. Oh, my god, that song is so true and so inspiring.

Rock star that you know?
Steven Tyler, Aerosmith. I just met him during the photo shoot I did with Aerosmith for Sports Illustrated. We shot in New York and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I've always been a fan of Aerosmith. I have their records and was excited to meet them in real life. They were so great. They were so into the photo shoot. They brought a DJ with them and we were going crazy, singing along to their songs and Steven handed me the microphone and I started singing like him. It was so much fun to dance and sing with them.

Rock star you want to know?
Alanis Morissette. I can't even put into words why she's so great. I've appreciated her music for so many years. I've been listening to the same songs for the past 10 years and I never get sick of them, which is special because with most hit songs I'm over them in like a month. Yet, I still listen to her records over and over again. It's just something about the way she sings. She put a lot of emotion into her songs. You can tell she really feels what she singing. It's not like someone wrote words for her to sing.

Gnarls Barkley is...
Also a great rapper.

Britney Spears is...
A phenomenon. No matter what she does, everyone is intrigued by it.

K-Fed is...
Who cares?

When I sing karaoke...
Everyone runs away. I'm the worst singer. If there's anything I wish I could be, it's a singer. I would love to stand up on stage and be singing and have thousands of people singing along with me to my song and getting excited. I would love to have that feeling but there's no chance of that happening. Seriously, if you want people to leave a party, give me a microphone and get me to sing.

Song that reminds you of your first kiss?
I don't even remember my first kiss but the one that I remember was Jennifer Lopez's Waiting For Tonight because it came out right before the millennium and my New Year's kiss that year. That was around the time I got my first real boyfriend and we were waiting for the millennium and everything was exciting and I remember hearing that song when we kissed.

Song that makes you cry?
There's a Hebrew song called My Friend about the assignation of Israel Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin that makes me cry every time I hear it. It's so sad. I was a little girl when he was killed but I remember being very emotional and crying for days when he died. He was a very special person and whenever I hear that song I remember him and I cry.

What you wanted to be at age 10?
I wanted to be a skydiver. I was kind of a tomboy growing up and in Israel we have to go into the army so I always wanted to be skydiver. I like the excitement of roller coasters and things like that so I wanted to be a professional skydiver. It's funny, though, because I've never skydived and I never will. I was more hardcore when I was 10.

Athlete that you want to know?
Lance Armstrong. He's so inspiring for what he overcame and how he inspired and affected so many people.

I'll spend Valentine's Day...
At the SI Swimsuit Party, but if I wasn't I would like to spend it with the person I love, having a good dinner, good wine and a good movie. The simplest stuff is what makes me the happiest.

What attracts you to a man?
A sense of humor, kindness, the way he laughs. It varies with every guy because each person has his own unique thing. There's no one special thing I look for.

Quick Bits

AGE: 21

BORN: Hod HaSharon, Israel

DISCOVERED: When Bar was eight months old, she started doing commercials in Israel and got hooked on being in front of a camera. She would always pester her mother about signing her up for photo shoots and commercials. After taking a three-year break while she had braces on, she signed with an agency in Israel as soon as she got them removed when she was 15 and began photographic modelling for fashion catalogues.

SI RÉSUMÉ: This is Bar's first appearance in the Swimsuit Issue.

DID YOU KNOW? Bar is the first Israeli model ever to be featured in the Swimsuit issue. "It's always a huge honor to be the first to do something," she says. "People always remember the first person to do something."
