Pop Culture Q&A

First album you bought?
Tragic Kingdom, No Doubt. I went out and bought the tape cassette when it first came out and my favorite song was, Just a Girl. They weren't really my favorite group or anything but I think I just saved up $2.99 and then went to Target and it was on sale or something. I think I might still have it if I looked through some dusty boxes back at my house.

First concert you attended?
I saw the Spice Girls when they came to Charlotte and I was 10 years old and in the fifth grade. I went with my mom and my four best friends and we dressed up like the Spice Girls. I sported the blonde pigtails like Baby Spice -- she was my favorite Spice Girl.

Rock star that you know?
I'm not really cool with any rock stars, but I do know Jimmy Buffett. I met Jimmy through Sports Illustrated actually. He's passing his guitar around to all the models and auctioning it off for charity; we filmed the music video of that in St. Barts and we hung out for a good long weekend and he taught me how to surf and all that kind of stuff,so I know Jimmy well now. He's great.

Rock star you want to know?
Dave Matthews. I just worship him. I think Dave Matthews and his band are the most talented musicians I've heard. I'm just in love with them. I have such a man crush on them. It's not like a crush that I want them, it's just like I'm infatuated with them. I could listen to them 24 hours for the rest of my life. I just love them. I was in the third grade when I heard Crash for the first time and one of my best guy friends brought in the song for show and tell and that's the first time I heard him. Then my parents actually turned me into a fan through the years by always playing his songs in the house. I really, really love him. I've seen him eight times in concert. A lot of people don't understand it until they see him live and once you see him you're a changed person -- that's what happened to me. I saw him live and it changed everything for me.

Gnarls Barkley is...
Innovative and somehow has a way to appeal to someone like your grandmother and your little sister.

Britney Spears is...
Preparing for a comeback. I saw her live awhile ago and I'm hoping for a comeback.

K-Fed is...
Everything I personally don't want in a man. Different strokes for different folks.

When I sing karaoke...
I look and sound ridiculous but I love every second of it. I think every girl at some point has sung Madonna's Like A Virgin. I think that's a pretty generic karaoke song but I love it.

Song that reminds you of your first kiss?
Dave Matthews' Crush. That song still sort of puts me in the mood.

Song that makes you cry?
Green Day's Good Riddance. It might be cliché and cheesy since it's every high school graduate's anthem but I like it. I also like John Mayer's Stop This Train. That's an emotional song.

What you wanted to be at age 10?
I thought I would be the first lady president and then on the side I would be an actress and on the weekends a veterinarian. That was my plan. So, yeah, I had high hopes. That was also around the same time I was dressing up as Baby Spice going to Spice Girls concerts, so I had a lot on my plate.

Athlete that you want to know?
Brett Favre. He is such a legend and he's still active. I hope when I get to be his age or when my husband gets to be his age one day he will be able to be like him. Everyone has respect for him whether you like the Packers or not. I want him to see him play another year but at the same time I want to see him go out strong and I don't want something bad to happen to him in his last season and for him to regret it. It's up to him but I support Brett either way.

I'll spend Valentine's Day...
I will be at the SI Swimsuit Party, but if I wasn't I would love to have someone cook me dinner and then rent a good movie and cap it off by checking out a Dave show. I like lots of yummy deserts. I could have a whole dinner of just deserts. I don't think I have one favorite desert. I like cheesecakes, caramel anything, chocolate, you name it. As far as the movie, I would pick a good romantic comedy or just a straight comedy like Jackass. It's always fun to laugh with that special someone.

What attracts you to a man?
First and foremost is hilarity. A sense of humor and a guy that's funny is the first thing I look for. Loyalty is also very important.

"You bleed Carolina Blue when you are a Carolina fan, and Duke is stuffy and uptight." Brooklyn is named for a horse named Brook. "My mom loved the name," she says. "My dad liked Brooklyn because it's a longer version of Brook. And they'd never been to New York."
