Jarrod Baxter | FB | New Mexico | Mountain West Conference
Selected by Houston Texans in round 5, pick 1 (136 overall)
Height Weight 40 Grade
6'0½ 245 4.77 3.52
Four-year starter used as both the feature runner and at fullback. Led the team in rushing as a senior when he totaled 203/907/4.5/11, also accounting for 7/49/7.0/0 as a pass catcher. Junior totals were 138/559/4.0/4 on the ground with one reception.

Nice-sized ball handler that must improve his blocking skills. Quick off the snap off the ball, displays a decent burst through the hole and footwork when the ball is in his hands. Strong in his lower body, runs with forward lean and easily picks up yardage off initial contact. Displays solid running vision; finds the hole, gets through the open spot and runs with balance. Effective running between the tackles and has shown the ability to handle the load when given the opportunity. Solid blocking for the passing game; bends his knees, squares into the opponents and anchors at the point of attack. Has not been asked to block for the running game much and as a result lacks both experience and technique. Less than adequate receiver as well as abilities to run outside tackle. Can go one of two ways; either a team will try to develop him into a big feature runner or try him as a lead fullback that is given the ball in short yardage situations. Whichever way they choose, he has the abilities to succeed at the next level. Early Fifth Round.
