Fifth-year senior who has moved in and out of the starting rotation since he was a redshirt freshman. Replaced Chris Simms behind center at the end of the 2001 campaign finishing the year with 63%/379/3/1. Handled most of the snaps behind center his junior season when the final numbers were 54.5%/2,164/18/7. Shared honors as Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore after posting 58%/3,357/21/9. Injury problems in the past with his left knee.
Hard-working, overachieving quarterback good in the pinch. Fundamentally sound; sets up with solid footwork holding the ball high as he drops into the pocket, scans the field and takes what the defense gives him. Patient, makes good decisions and accurate in the short field. Lacks a fluid over the top delivery and slings the ball from the side which hurts the small amount of arm strength he has. No pocket stature and has difficulty escaping the rush. From a physical standpoint not much going for this prospect but he has always answered the call and gets the job done. Won't be drafted but will be invited to a camp and may be tough to keep off a roster next September. Free Agent.
