Three-year starter coming off a record-breaking season and major leg surgery. First team All-Conference selection last season totaling 196/1,582/18.1/24 on the ground and catching 32/334/10.4/4. Awarded the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back and was a consensus All-American. Led the nation in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game as well as 8.1 rushing yards per carry. Set BYU's single season record for rushing, touchdowns and total points. Rushed for more than 200 yards on one occasion last season, adding eight games in which he topped the century mark. Broke his left fibula and suffered severe ankle damage on December 1 in a victory over Mississippi State. Required surgery, having screws and a metal plate inserted into the bone. Eventually had some of the hardware removed from his ankle and ran a 4.53 for scouts the end of March. Second team All-Conference choice as a sophomore when his ground numbers were 130/479/3.7/7 after a freshman campaign when he posted running totals of 92/432/4.7/10. Had multiple surgeries on his knee and another procedure done on his shoulder while in college.
Versatile offensive skill player that impacts the game when healthy. Patient runner who waits for his blocks to develop, will pick and choose his spots and displays vision when the ball is in his hands. Runs with terrific forward lean, makes defenders miss in the short field and possesses a strong lower body, which helps him to break tackles and pick up yardage off initial contact. Displays a burst through the hole, keeps his feet moving up the field or falls forward when tackled, gaining the extra yardage. Excellent receiver out of the backfield that extends, catches the pass away from his body and is effective running after the reception. Displays a burst of speed, runs with balance and works hard in all aspects. Though elusive he cannot create nor avoid piles, lacks the corner speed and only an average blocker. History of multiple injuries in college is worrisome. Had he completed a healthy season, he would rank in the top 40 picks, but he must be downgraded due to his inability to stay on the field. Late Third Round.
