Four-year starter that impacted the program as a true freshman. All-Conference selection as a senior after leading the team in tackles, finishing the year with 83/8/10. Hurt his neck early in the 2000 campaign was forced to red shirt after compiling 54/4/1 the prior year as a true junior spending the season at cornerback. Had 71 tackles and four interceptions as a sophomore when he was also used to return punts. PAC 10 career leader in interceptions with 22.

Complete safety effective defending both the run and pass. Displays excellent sideline-to- sideline range, smooth in his hips and disciplined covering center field. Also shows the abilities to handle man-to-man cover situations. Quick reading or anticipating the action, displays a good head for the ball and speed in all directions. Fast breaking on the pass, extends or adjusts in mid air for the pick, showing good hands pulling the interception out of the air. Takes good angles to the action and very aware and alert on the football field. Really stood out all week at the Senior Bowl and was the best defensive back on the football field. Lacks recovery and closing speed, bites on the play-action pass occasionally and tackles high. Made incredible progress last year; looked atrocious as a junior at cornerback constantly getting beat then sat out all last season with a neck injury. Could rank very high if, and only if, the pre-draft exams on his neck check out. Early-to-mid second round.
