Ashley Lelie
Started the only three seasons he was on the active roster. All-Conference selection in 2001, leading the team in receiving totaling 84/1,713/20.4/19. Second team All-Conference selection as a redshirt sophomore, once again he leading the team in receptions catching 74/1,110/15/11. Started seven of twelve games as a redshirt freshman and finished with 36/518/14.4/2.

Explosive receiver with home run hitting abilities. Displays great speed and acceleration, easily stretches the defense and has opponents playing back on their heels even though they give him a ten yard cushion at the line of scrimmage. Displays good eye/hand coordination, looks the pass in and catches the ball in stride. Times and anticipates his receptions well, displays excellent body control and easily makes the reception downfield running full tilt. On the same page as his quarterback, comes back to the ball and makes himself an available target. Continually improved his overall receiving skills. Quick getting to top speed, changes gears in a single stride and runs away from opponents if given a little bit of open space. Keeps his momentum running laterally, gets up vertically and extends nicely to make the catch. Not quick releasing off the snap of the ball, slowed at the line of scrimmage by opponents jams and not a physically aggressive wideout. Has a tall, pencil-thin build and cannot go over the middle, take a pounding and hold onto the pass. Also has difficulty against big, strong defensive backs and does not display the ability to reach back to grab the errant throw with defenders draped on him. Solid hands but would not classify them as strong. Not quick in or out of his breaks nor is he sharp. Played in a pass happy offense in college which employed three receivers and spread the defense. Put on close to 10% additional body weight at the end of the season and did not take part in the combine due to a sore hamstring which, as late as April 1, was still giving him problems. Could be a game breaking receiver at the next level and in time be a consistent and productive number on wideout as he physically matures . Needs to refine his skills, increase his body strength and get used to the opponents speed at the next level but should quickly be inserted into a starting lineup as a rookie. Mid First Round.
