Former SMU quarterback that transferred to SHSU in 2001 and became the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year when his passing numbers were 61.6%/2,884/29/8. Completed 51%/1,969/9/16 as a junior at SMU in 2000 after 53.5%/1,434/10/11 his sophomore campaign.

Nice-sized pocket passer with the arm strength to play at the next level. Solid footwork setting up in the pocket, has a quick release and very accurate when he throws over his top foot, following through on his passes. Relatively mobile, gets outside the pocket and makes throws on the move. Goes through his receiver progressions, leads wideouts with his passes. Passes have nice zip. Lacks patience and poise in the pocket, does not buy time for his receivers, nor does he react well when being pressured. Rushes, makes questionable decisions and forces the ball into coverage relying on arm strength rather than sound football intangibles. Not always willing to stand in against the rush, throws off his back foot and gives away his targets. Shows flashes but not much consistency. Did a good job at the Senior Bowl and capitalized with an even better session at the combine. Raw physical skills alone make him a nice developmental prospect, but he must refine the details of his position if he is going to make it at the next level. May have moved himself into the first day based on his exploits since January. Mid-Third Round.
