Versatile defensive back who has started at both cornerback and safety in college. Won both All-American and All-Conference honors as a senior totaling 53/2/23. All-Conference as a junior and received some All-American recognition with 43/3/20. Opened the 1999 season at free safety but suffered a shoulder injury during the initial contest of the year which forced him to redshirt. Used exclusively as a free safety as a true sophomore and totaled a career high 81 tackles.

Physical, man-to-man cornerback with good cover skills. Challenges opponents off the snap, smooth and fluid back pedaling off the line and quick transitioning to run downfield with receivers, easily staying step for step with them. Adjusts in mid air to defend the pass running full speed and deflects away the ball. Stays with opponents in and out of their pass routes, quickly breaking on the ball and displays an explosive burst of closing speed. Quick reading or diagnosing the action, moves well laterally and fast staying with opponents across the field. Not effective backed off the line of scrimmage, gets sloppy and falls asleep or gets a little too cute gambling at times which costs him. Showed a propensity early in his career to be a little slow locating the ball or giving up easy receptions when he seemingly could make a play on the pass. Excellent physical skills, corner techniques and cover instincts and adds the versatility to effectively play free safety. If he refines the details of his game, and more importantly stays focused for sixty minutes, a big-time prospect at the next level. Early First Round.
