Four-year starter that won All-Conference honors the past two seasons and was also given All-American consideration. Started at both left tackle as both a redshirt junior and senior after playing guard his first two-years on the active roster. Started as a true freshman in ’97 but broke his ankle the following season which resulted in a redshirt year.
Athletic line prospect that dominates in confined quarters. Quick off the snap, stays square and keeps the opponent in front of him. Displays jolt in his upper body, extends his arms and turns defenders out of the action. Anchors in pass protection and also blocks down well on opponents. Starts with a wide base, low to the ground and blocks with excellent forward lean. Keeps his feet moving and quick getting out to engage linebackers, opening up the running lanes for his backs. Early in his career showed extraordinary ability to pull across the line of scrimmage, quickly gets into the defensive backfield and annihilating opponents. Bends at the waist, over extends and plays off balance at left tackle. Slow adjusting his body, lacks the quick and fluid footwork and overall blocking range. Moved to the blind side out of necessity and though he did an admirable job at Mississippi it may not be his best position at the next level. Dominates opponents in a small area or blocking straight ahead on the second level, but the more he is asked to move laterally the greater his struggle becomes. Won't be drafted as early as he should be based on his performances at tackle the past two seasons but definitely a prospect that will flourish and be effective at the next level if put in the correct scheme. Mid Second Round.
